An Act to Establish Official Oaths or Affirmations in Baustralia, and for purposes connected therewith

Preface

  1. The short title of this Act is the Official Oaths Act, 2025.

Official Oaths

  1. The official oath or affirmation to be taken by a member of Parliament is as follows-
    1. “I, XX, do solemnly swear/affirm that I will truly and faithfully, and to the best of my abilities, execute the powers and trusts reposed in me as a Member of Parliament.”
  2. The official oath or affirmation to be taken by a Citizen is as follows-
    1. “I, XX, do solemnly swear/affirm that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to His/Her Majesty King/Queen XX, and their Heirs and Successors, and that I will faithfully observe the laws of Baustralia and my duties as a Citizen.”
  3. The official oath or affirmation to be taken by a member of the Armed Forces of Baustralia is as follows-
    1. “I, XX, do solemnly swear/affirm that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to His/Her Majesty King/Queen XX, and their Heirs and Successors, and do promise to undertake and observe the instructions and orders presented to me by those Officers placed over me.”
  4. The official oath or affirmation must be taken in English on all occasions.
