3 John 1, chapter 97
An Act regarding voting, to replace first past the post with alternative voting, and for purposes connected therewith
Preface
- This Act shall be known as the Voting (Amendment) Act, 2020.
- This Act shall come into effect on 21 June 2020 at 0000 hours.
Voting
- A voter will be issued with a ballot and will mark the ballot with-
- a ‘1’ opposite their preferred candidate,
- a ‘2’ opposite their second-preferred candidate,
- and so on.
- The voter must mark all candidates, lest the ballot will be spoiled.
Counting
- All candidates are sorted by first-preference. If a candidate has more than 50% (“absolute majority”) of the votes, that candidate is elected. If not,
- The candidate with the least votes is eliminated, and the second-preferred candidate’s votes are distributed, and so on until an absolute majority is reached.
