An Act respecting the titles and duties of Members of Government, and for purposes connected therewith

  1. This Act shall be known as the Government (No. 1) Act, 2020.
  2. This Act lays out the procedures of government, and His Majesty has the right to exercise his prerogative to modify permanently or temporarily the duties of these offices.

Ministers of State, Secretaries of State, Permanent Under-Secretaries of State, Under-Secretaries of State, and Private Secretaries

  1. Permanent Under-Secretaries of State are the top government member of an office and are usually a Peer from the House of Lords and ranks above a Secretary of State.
  2. Secretaries of State are the cabinet minister in charge of an office and ranks above a minister.
  3. Ministers of State are the second cabinet minister in charge of an office and ranks above an Under-Secretary of State.
  4. Under-Secretaries of State are a cabinet member who assists the Secretary of State.
  5. Private Secretaries are a cabinet minister who assists the Minister of State.
