3 John 1, chapter 61

An Act regarding the Speaker of the House of Commons and the restrictions thereof

Repealed by Statute Law Reform Act, 8 John 1 c. 11

Be it enacted by His Most Gracious and Excellent Majesty and with the Consent of the Commons as follows:-

  1. This Act shall be known as the Speaker of the House of Commons Act, 2020.
  2. The Speaker of the House of Commons (“Speaker”) will only vote for the purpose of breaking ties.
  3. The Speaker will remain a member of his party, but will not represent his party in the House of Commons.
  4. The Speaker may not hold a position in government except for the position of Speaker.
